Changing username and password

It is important that you consider your username and password to be crucial pieces of information that should not be shared with anyone else, including your family. You should follow these suggestions to create difficult and hard to guess passwords:

  • Do create complex passwords. Your Password must have at least eight characters in length and it must contain at least one non-alphabetic character. The non-alphabetic character may be either a number or a special character such as "&$@?~!". The password is case sensitive. Here are some examples of good passwords:
    • Js73KLs9
    • teoS21Mn
  • Do change your password on a regular basis. It is recommended that passwords should be changed every 60 days.
  • Do not use single complete words as passwords. These words can be easily guessed by robotic programs which can attempt every word from a dictionary. Examples of such bad passwords:
    • Zebra
    • Stallion
  • Do not use names and dates of births of your family members as passwords. Examples of such bad passwords:
    • Jonathan
    • Joe09101971
  • Do not create passwords that contain your username or your E-mail address as part of it.
  • Do not E-mail your password to anyone.
  • Do not create usernames that have just your name. They should contain one or more numbers.
  • Do not create usernames that are the same as your E-mail address.
