Updated July 1, 2010
In March of this year, President Obama signed into law major health care reform legislation. Recently, the federal government began issuing detailed regulations on certain aspects of this legislation. Many more regulations will be issued over the coming months and years.
Newly released regulations have clarified when the Health Plan must comply with some of the provisions in the law which have a more immediate effective date than the 2014 date of most provisions. These include coverage for dependent children up to the age of 26 which will be effective January 1, 2011.
The Health Plan, along with our consultants and legal counsel are reviewing the regulations as they are released in order to determine exactly what changes need to be made to the Plan and the effective date for these changes. We will provide additional information regarding any changes in the very near future. There is no immediate impact to your Health Plan benefits.
Please note that the Health Plan is committed to enact any changes as required under the new law. Please continue to check this website for updated information.
